Ahmedabad Airport officials seize ₹65.69 lakh gold hidden in passenger's body

Customs officials at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad seized gold worth approximately ₹65.69 lakh after discovering a passenger had hidden gold paste inside his body.

The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Ahmedabad Customs detained a 24-year-old man from Godhra, Gujarat, who arrived from Jeddah via Doha on a Qatar Airways flight. During the inspection, officials found 467.09 grams of gold paste concealed within his body. Once processed, the paste was converted into a 422.83-gram bar of 24-carat gold.

The passenger was arrested under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962, and further investigations are ongoing to determine if he is linked to a larger smuggling network.
