Ahmedabad Division sets new single-day freight loading record

The Ahmedabad Division of Western Railway has set a new all-time record for freight loading, successfully loading 85 rakes, totaling 3,580 wagons, in a single day on September 5, 2026. This surpasses the previous record of 80 rakes and 3,525 wagons.

The record-breaking day included the loading of 42 container rakes, 21 of which were double-stack containers, as well as 6 automobile rakes, 8 salt rakes, and 17 fertilizer rakes. Divisional Railway Manager Ved Prakash attributed the achievement to coordinated team efforts, improved operational planning, and efficient use of freight capacity.

This milestone follows a strong performance in August 2026, during which the division loaded 4.4651 million tonnes of goods, generating ₹631.31 crore in revenue. During that month, average daily train interchanges rose by 2.5 percent compared to the previous year, and interchanges at Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL) points increased by 11.8 percent.
