Ahmedabad hosts Kankaria Na Garba festival with over 30,000 attendees
More than 30,000 people attended the ‘Kankaria Na Garba’ festival at Kankaria Lakefront in Ahmedabad. Organized by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), the event featured traditional Gujarati folk dance and included ‘Divyang Garba’ performances specifically involving differently-abled participants.
The initiative aimed to foster inclusivity by allowing differently-abled citizens to participate in cultural activities alongside other residents. The festival included traditional stick garba and was attended by various local officials, including Ahmedabad Mayor Hitesh Barot and Minister of State for Urban Development Darshana Vaghela.
To manage the large crowd, the AMC implemented security measures such as CCTV surveillance, medical teams, and rescue boats. The event was held at the historic Kankaria Lakefront, a public recreational space established through a redevelopment project completed in 2009.
