Ahmedabad International Book Festival 2026 inaugurated

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu inaugurated the 12th edition of the Ahmedabad International Book Festival at the Sabarmati Riverfront. The event is a joint initiative by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and the National Book Trust.

During the opening ceremony, officials released the Gujarati edition of ‘Sardar Teja Singh Samundri: Life and Legacy’, a book detailing the life of the freedom fighter and pioneer of the Gurdwara Reform Movement. Lieutenant Governor Sandhu noted that Samundri’s work in social, political, and educational reform serves as a significant example of leadership and national commitment.

The festival will run until November 1 and features 700 book stalls, workshops, poetry, music, ghazal sessions, and intellectual discussions. To support cultural and educational growth, the 2026–27 state budget has allocated ₹182 crore for education, library development, and the promotion of the Gujarati language.
