Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation launches digital marriage certificates with QR codes

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has introduced a paper‑less marriage registration certificate that includes a QR code and a photograph of the couple. The new system, unveiled in the presence of the mayor, legislators and officials, is the first of its kind in Gujarat and replaces the previous photo‑less certificates that often caused administrative difficulties.

Couples can now upload required documents online, schedule a convenient appointment, and complete the registration with a single in‑person visit where their photo is taken. The QR code on the certificate allows instant verification of authenticity. The initiative aims to make the process faster, more transparent and environmentally friendly while reducing the need for repeated trips to government offices.
