Ahmedabad police arrest fugitive in 24-year-old Rajasthan murder case

The Ahmedabad City Crime Branch has arrested Dineshbhai Amthabhai Arjanbhai Desai, a fugitive who had been on the run for 24 years. Desai was allegedly involved in a 2002 murder conspiracy in Rajasthan that was initially disguised as a road accident.

The crime originated from a dispute over ancestral property and business between two brothers in Dungli village, located in the Pali district of Rajasthan. According to police, Desai and several co-conspirators used an SUV to intentionally ram into the motorcycle of Delaram Nai, killing him instantly. The perpetrators abandoned their vehicle at the scene in an attempt to make the incident appear to be a hit-and-run accident.

Following investigations by the Sadri Police, the collision was identified as a planned murder. Desai spent over two decades evading authorities by frequently changing locations, concealing his identity, and working various daily-wage jobs. He was eventually apprehended in Ahmedabad following precise intelligence and identity verification.
