Ahmedabad rape accused transferred to Sabarmati Central Jail

Dharamsingh Ramshankarsingh, the accused in the Anandnagar rape case, was transferred to Sabarmati Central Jail in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. This follows his discharge from Sola Civil Hospital after receiving medical treatment.

The case involves the alleged sexual assault of a 23-year-old interior design student at a rented residence on August 8. Police state that Ramshankarsingh, who was working as a security guard at the premises, attacked the victim and fled with her mobile phone.

During an attempted custody escape on August 9, police officers fired two rounds in self-defence after the accused allegedly tried to snatch a service revolver. One shot struck Ramshankarsingh in the leg, and a constable was also injured during the scuffle.

Additionally, the investigation has led to a separate case against the owner of A-One Security Agency. Authorities noted that the accused had joined the agency only days before the incident and had reportedly not undergone formal security training or police verification.
