Cultural segments featured a classical Indian‑Scottish jugalbandi by sitar virtuoso Rishabh Rikhiram Sharma and Scottish piper Ross Ainslie, an opening act celebrating the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram”, and a visual journey highlighting Gujarat. The King’s Baton Relay, a tradition dating back to 1958, will travel across all 74 Commonwealth nations and territories, each receiving its own baton carrying a message from King Charles III.

The handover also gave Glasgow audiences a preview of Ahmedabad 2030, showcasing India’s cultural heritage and Gujarat’s identity as the future host city.
