Ahmet Çakar criticizes VAR decisions after Fenerbahçe loss

Former referee and commentator Ahmet Çakar has criticized officiating decisions following Fenerbahçe’s 2-1 away defeat against Gençlerbirliği in the opening week of the Trendyol Süper Lig.

Çakar specifically targeted the VAR official regarding a 71st-minute incident involving a shot by Anderson Talisca. He argued that the ball clearly struck a Gençlerbirliği defender's hand in a non-natural position, necessitating a penalty. Çakar stated that while the on-field referee might have missed the contact, the VAR room failed to intervene in a situation he described as “100 percent” a penalty.
