Ahmet Davutoğlu faces investigation for allegedly insulting President Erdoğan

The Ankara Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into Ahmet Davutoğlu, the former Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Turkey, for allegedly insulting President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The investigation was initiated following the circulation of social media posts containing video footage from approximately 4.5 years ago. In the footage, Davutoğlu criticizes the country's economic management and accuses the government of enriching relatives, associates, and specific contractors. He specifically alleged that the administration favored certain individuals and sold out national interests to five contractors.

Davutoğlu, who previously served as a close ally of Erdoğan and co-founded the Justice and Development Party, later moved into the opposition and founded his own party before recently announcing his departure from political life.
