Ahmet Eşref Fakıbaba resigns from İYİ Party
Ahmet Eşref Fakıbaba, an İYİ Party Ankara Member of Parliament, has resigned from both his party membership and his parliamentary seat. The decision follows a public dispute with İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu.
The conflict arose after Fakıbaba expressed support for a “Terror-free Turkey” process and voiced his belief that the peace process could yield positive results. In response, Dervişoğlu issued a statement on social media calling for Fakıbaba’s resignation, questioning his alignment with the party’s nationalist principles.
Fakıbaba stated that he decided to resign out of respect for the Chairman’s call and his own sense of political ethics. He noted that while he respects Dervişoğlu, there were significant ideological disagreements within the party, particularly regarding framework legislation.
