AHMSA bankruptcy auction scheduled for September 25

Altos Hornos de México (AHMSA) is approaching a critical auction scheduled for September 25 as part of its ongoing bankruptcy proceedings. Local authorities, including Sergio Sisbeles Alvarado, the Undersecretary of Government for the Centro-Desierto Region, expressed positive expectations for the auction, noting that a definitive resolution from the court is required to provide legal certainty to creditors and former workers.

In a significant development within the insolvency process, Alonso Ancira Elizondo, the former long-time chairman and principal shareholder of AHMSA, has been officially recognized on the list of preferential labor credits. Despite objections from creditors such as Caterpillar and Progress Rail Leasing, authorities ratified his claim, which includes a credit of over 255 million pesos (approximately 14.1 million USD) and a daily integrated salary of nearly 155,000 pesos. This status places the former leader in the same legal position as the workers awaiting payments from the sale of the company's assets.

The resolution of the AHMSA case is viewed as vital for the economic recovery of the Centro Region and the stability of its industrial corridor.
