Ahn Cheol-soo urges stronger response after North Korean mine found in Incheon
South Korean lawmaker Ahn Cheol-soo has called for a stronger response to North Korea following the discovery of an anti-personnel mine near Daebinchang Beach in Ganghwa County, Incheon. The mine, suspected to have drifted from North Korean waters due to heavy summer rains, was found by a worker on August 8 and subsequently neutralized by explosive ordnance disposal teams.
Ahn criticized the administration's perceived silence regarding the incident and a previous landmine explosion in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) that injured three South Korean soldiers. He urged the government to cease what he termed a “subservient clown show” toward North Korea and instead take active measures such as loudspeaker broadcasts, leaflet distributions, or other retaliatory actions to protect citizens and respond to North Korean provocations.
