Ahn Se-hyun returns to Asian Games after eight-year hiatus

South Korean swimmer Ahn Se-hyun is set to compete in the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, marking her return to the international stage after an eight-year hiatus. Once considered a rising star in women's butterfly, Ahn faced a significant slump characterized by psychological struggles and a loss of confidence following her peak performance at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships.

After a period of recovery and training, Ahn secured her spot on the national team by winning two gold medals in the 50m and 100m butterfly at the national selection trials in March. She plans to compete in four events at the upcoming Asian Games, including the 50m and 100m butterfly and both the 400m individual medley and mixed medley relays.
