Ahold Delhaize restores services following cybersecurity incident

Ahold Delhaize has begun restoring services following a cybersecurity incident that disrupted operations across several European markets. In Belgium, Delhaize reported that online grocery ordering, home delivery, and collection services returned to full capacity on 17 October after nearly a week of technical difficulties.

The incident, which began around 11 October, prompted the international retail group to preventatively disconnect certain systems to protect its infrastructure. While physical stores remained open, the disruption affected internal ordering procedures, online services, and customer applications.

In the Czech Republic, the Albert supermarket chain kept its mobile application offline as a precaution, opting to extend promotional pricing to all customers regardless of app usage. The Dutch retailer Albert Heijn also experienced disruptions to online services and customer support, though delivery services were reported to be resuming.

As of the latest updates, there is no evidence of customer or employee data theft, and no information has appeared on the dark web regarding the breach. The company continues to monitor its systems to ensure security.
