Ahome health officials intensify dengue prevention efforts
The Municipal Health Directorate of Ahome, Sinaloa, has intensified efforts to combat dengue following recent rains that have increased mosquito breeding sites. Dr. María Isabel Astorga Soto, head of the department, reported 158 confirmed cases of dengue in the municipality to date.
The prevention strategy includes fumigation, the removal of debris, and the elimination of breeding sites in various neighborhoods and communities. Dr. Astorga Soto emphasized that while fumigation kills adult mosquitoes, it does not eliminate larvae, making community cooperation essential. Residents are urged to clean yards, remove standing water, and dispose of objects that could serve as breeding grounds.
