Ahome police urge immediate 911 reporting for public harassment
Ahome Public Security Secretary Carlos Rodríguez Ponce has urged citizens to prioritize calling 911 to report incidents of public sexual harassment before recording and sharing them on social media. He stated that immediate reporting allows police to arrive while suspects are still at the scene, potentially leading to arrests.
The request follows a recent incident in the Las Huertas neighborhood, where a woman recorded a man allegedly touching her inappropriately. The case was later brought to the North Zone Vice-Prosecutor's Office by the feminist collective Sororas Sinaloa, which is seeking the identification and location of the suspect. Rodríguez Ponce noted that authorities could not intervene immediately in that instance because the event only became known through social media after it occurred.
