Ahome prepares for national dengue, chikungunya, and zika campaign
The Ahome Municipal Health Directorate, in coordination with Sanitary Jurisdiction 01, is preparing for the Second National Campaign against dengue, chikungunya, and zika. The campaign is scheduled to launch on August 24 at the park in Colonia 72 in Los Mochis, Sinaloa.
María Isabel Astorga Soto, Director of Municipal Health, stated that while fumigation and breeding site elimination are permanent weekly activities, this national campaign aims to intensify efforts. Historically, the Las Canteras and Las Margaritas sectors of Los Mochis have shown the highest incidence of mosquito activity.
Health officials are urging citizens to participate by eliminating potential breeding sites. Recommended actions include the ‘turn, wash, cover, and discard’ method to prevent mosquitoes from reproducing in clean water, as well as clearing debris and weeds from yards and vacant lots.
