Ahome public officials receive training for LGBTQIA+ inclusion

Public officials in Ahome, Sinaloa, are undergoing training to improve service delivery to the LGBTQIA+ community. The “Atención sin Discriminación” (Non-Discrimination Service) program is a collaborative effort between the Ahome Municipal Government and the Sinaloa Secretariat of Women (SEMUJERES).

Directed at administrative and management personnel, the training focuses on gender perspective, human rights, and sexogenic diversity. The initiative aims to promote equality, non-discrimination, and the use of inclusive, non-sexist language. Melissa Estavillo Zavala, the Municipal Secretary of Women, stated that the program was developed in response to needs identified through contact with local sexual diversity collectives. The training seeks to ensure that public servants provide dignified and respectful treatment to all citizens.
