Ahome municipality manages infrastructure, social economy, and environmental issues
The municipality of Ahome is addressing several local administrative and infrastructure priorities. Mayor Antonio Menéndez de Llano Bermúdez recently met with Sinaloa Governor Graciela Domínguez Nava to discuss essential public services, including the rehabilitation of sewage and potable water systems, as well as the management of cultural centers.
In terms of environmental and urban maintenance, the municipality is taking action against invasive water hyacinth in irrigation canals to protect local water bodies and fauna. Additionally, the Public Works Department is conducting daily pothole repairs in both urban and rural areas to mitigate damage caused by recent heavy rains and constant traffic.
On a broader economic level, Ahome participated in the Second National Social Economy Meeting in Mexico City. The delegation, represented by Public Works Director Jesús Ernesto Tapia Castro, focused on strengthening cooperatives in the fishing and agricultural sectors to facilitate national and international trade networks.
