Ahome, Sinaloa, announces disarmament program and community service initiatives

The Ahome municipal government in Sinaloa has announced several social and security initiatives. From August 24 to 28, a voluntary disarmament module will be stationed at the Palacio Municipal. Residents can voluntarily donate firearms in exchange for economic incentives. The program also includes a component for children, who are invited to exchange war-themed toys for educational or sports toys.

In a separate social effort, the 'Caravanas del Bienestar' program recently brought free services to the Ejido 5 de Mayo community. These services included medical, dental, and nutritional consultations, legal and psychological orientation, and assistance with housing improvements. The initiative specifically targets indigenous populations, a demographic that includes 84 localities within the Ahome municipality.
