Ahome to host 5th National Destino sin Barreras Encounter

The municipality of Ahome, specifically Los Mochis, will host the 5th National Destino sin Barreras Encounter from October 8 to 11. Organized by the Unión Nacional de Personas en Situación de Discapacidad Visual (UNACIV), the event will bring together approximately 40 individuals with blindness or low vision from various states across Mexico.

The program includes a series of conferences held at the Instituto Politécnico Nacional, where speakers and instructors will share experiences regarding autonomy and independence despite visual impairments. Additionally, the agenda features two days of inclusive tourism, allowing participants to explore local attractions such as the Botanical Garden, the culture of San Miguel Zapotitlán, the port of Topolobampo, and El Maviri beach.

Organizers and local tourism officials emphasized that the event aims to promote the message that tourism can be accessible and autonomous, demonstrating that destinations can be experienced through sound, touch, taste, and feeling rather than just sight.
