Ahrensburg: Man arrested after machete attack on cleaning staff

A 32-year-old man has been arrested following a violent attack with a machete-like sword in Ahrensburg, Schleswig-Holstein. The incident occurred on a Monday morning near an apartment building where two cleaning staff members were working.

According to police reports, the victims attempted to flee to their company vehicle when the suspect approached them with the weapon. The attacker reportedly smashed a car window and inflicted life-threatening injuries on a 43-year-old woman. A 54-year-old male colleague sustained minor injuries while attempting to assist her.

The suspect initially fled on foot but was apprehended near the scene following witness reports. Investigators from the Lübeck homicide commission and the public prosecutor's office are currently looking into the motive. Police noted indications that the attacker may have been in a state of psychological crisis.
