A court has granted an extension for police to complete their evidence bundle against 26-year-old Ahwen Kohn, who is accused of killing a man during a camping trip at the Little Styx River campground in Ebor.

Police allege that following an argument in the early hours of March 2, Kohn struck a 33-year-old man in the face with an axe. It is further alleged that Kohn attacked a 25-year-old woman after she suggested seeking medical help for the victim. The man was later pronounced dead by paramedics after being driven to Thora.

During a hearing in Armidale Local Court, prosecutor Bec Allsop stated that crime scene photos are the only outstanding evidence needed for the Director of Public Prosecutions to certify the murder charge. Legal Aid solicitor Kate McDuff opposed the extension, noting that the delay might push the matter beyond the six-month window for certifying charges. Judge Anne Lambino granted the extension, noting that autopsy reports frequently fall outside that timeframe.
