AI accelerates transformation in the pharmaceutical industry

Artificial intelligence is becoming a critical driver of transformation within the pharmaceutical industry, offering new possibilities for drug discovery and personalized medical treatments. During the Mediterranean AI Forum (FMIA), Selim Khlaifi, Customer Engagement and Digital Lead for Tunisia and Libya, highlighted how the technology acts as a “game changer” for the sector.

In research and development, AI assists in the rapid selection of drug candidates and molecules by predicting pharmacological and clinical properties. Khlaifi noted that this integration has already led to a 50% increase in early-stage projects initiated within clinical studies. Beyond R&D, AI is expected to improve medical data exploitation, enhance diagnostics, and optimize the selection of patients and clinical centers.
