AI adopted by Norway's sovereign fund and Dominican experts to detect reputational risks
Consultant Victor Bautista warned that negative narratives can solidify in under four hours and advocated the use of artificial intelligence to spot early reputational threats. Speaking at a finance and audit conference in Boca Chica, Dominican Republic, he described AI as a "co‑pilot" that alerts, proposes and accelerates response, but does not replace human judgment, empathy or strategic responsibility.
Norges Bank Investment Management, which runs Norway's sovereign wealth fund, has integrated AI into its ESG and reputational risk workflow. Since November 2024 the fund’s monitoring team has used Anthropic’s Claude language model to scan public information on more than 7,200 companies across 60 countries. The system delivers daily risk assessments, flagging issues such as forced labour, corruption or fraud within 24 hours of an investment, thereby expanding the scale and speed of risk detection for the $2.26 trillion portfolio.
