AI adoption and mobile network readiness face regional and technical challenges
A study by the Republic Statistical Office (RZS) reveals that only 17.2% of companies in Serbia currently utilize artificial intelligence. Adoption rates vary significantly by company size, with 36.6% of large enterprises using AI compared to 20.2% of medium-sized and 15.1% of small firms. The information and communication sector shows the highest integration at 53.9%, while sectors such as transport, storage, and retail show much lower usage.
Globally, research from Opensignal indicates that mobile networks are not yet sufficiently reliable for all AI interactions. While 83 out of 140 analyzed countries allow for high-quality text-based AI communication in at least 75% of cases, readiness drops sharply for voice and video interactions. For voice, only 45% of countries meet the 75% success threshold, and for video, that figure falls to 39%. The study highlights that latency and time to first byte are more critical factors for AI usability than raw data transfer speeds.
