AI adoption faces governance challenges in Italian and Spanish firms
Recent studies in Italy and Spain reveal that while artificial intelligence is being integrated into corporate environments, organizations are struggling with structured governance and strategic implementation.
In Italy, research from the Osservatorio Purpose in Action indicates that 30% of companies use AI to support managerial decisions, 27% for skill planning, and 25% for performance evaluation. However, 27% of businesses lack a clear approach to the technology, and 60% of managers report that adoption is driven primarily by efficiency and cost reduction rather than clearly defined objectives. Many managers believe that a corporate 'Purpose' will be essential for ensuring responsible AI use over the next five years.
In Spain, the I Barometer of HR Digitalization shows that only 37% of companies utilize AI within human resources processes, specifically in areas like recruitment and training. While 83% of companies acknowledge they have not yet reached optimal digitalization levels, a significant gap exists in data-driven decision-making, with only 17.8% of HR departments relying entirely on analytics. Lack of time is cited as a primary barrier to progress, even surpassing budget constraints.
