AI adoption in the Middle East shifts focus to data readiness and autonomy
Technology leaders in the Middle East are highlighting the critical role of data infrastructure in the successful deployment of artificial intelligence.
At ADIPEC 2026, SUPCON will present its Autonomous Operating Plant (AOP) approach, which aims to bridge the gap between sensing and autonomy in industrial environments. The strategy focuses on a progressive transition to autonomy by integrating AI with existing control systems, data, and instruments. Key technologies to be showcased include the Universal Control System (UCS), Time-series Pre-trained Transformer (TPT) industrial AI, and explosion-proof robotics to support operational efficiency and process safety.
Separately, NetApp’s UAE leadership emphasizes that the future of enterprise AI in the region depends on trusted data foundations rather than model size. Bassel Kassem, NetApp’s UAE Country Manager, noted that while GCC CEOs are rapidly adopting generative AI, organizations face challenges with data readiness. He argued that the competitive edge is shifting toward data stewardship, requiring clear standards for data quality, governance, and security to manage fragmented data across cloud and on-premises environments.
