AI adoption shifts Finnish job market and workforce needs

Recent studies in Finland highlight the rapid integration of artificial intelligence into the workforce and job search processes, revealing both a need for training and a shift in recruitment dynamics.

A survey by the Jyty trade union indicates that 53% of public sector employees feel they receive little to no support for using AI. While the public sector is adopting the technology, 33% of respondents report a lack of workplace guidelines. Jyty chairperson Jonna Voima emphasized that AI should be used to support and enhance work rather than simply to replace staff or achieve cost savings, calling for practical, tailored training.

Simultaneously, research from Duunitori and Taloustutkimus shows that AI usage among active job seekers has quadrupled in three years, reaching 45%. Job seekers are using AI for tasks such as tailoring CVs, proofreading, and preparing for interviews. This trend is pressuring employers; 47% of employer representatives state that AI-generated applications are forcing a need to modernize recruitment processes to effectively identify talent.
