AI Adoption Soars in APAC While Singapore Consumers Struggle to Detect AI Scams

A new Aon Human Capital Trends study shows that 74% of organisations in the Asia‑Pacific region have deployed or are piloting AI, with 84% expecting automation to augment rather than replace jobs. Yet only 21% of firms feel they can recruit enough AI talent, creating a gap between technology rollout and workforce preparedness. The study also highlights limited access to personalised employee benefits and pay transparency across the region.

A parallel TrendLife survey of 526 Singaporeans finds the country leading global AI use for daily tasks—around 70% employ AI for activities such as email writing, travel planning and online shopping. Despite this high adoption, just 20% feel confident identifying AI‑generated scams or deepfakes, a shortfall linked to recent deep‑fake Zoom scams that cost at least S$4.9 million. Respondents expressed strong demand for family‑grade protection tools and AI‑driven safety features for children.

Both reports point to a growing disparity: rapid AI implementation outpaces skill development and consumer awareness, prompting calls for stronger workforce training and protective technologies.
