AI adoption surges in Norway and Poland

Generative artificial intelligence usage is seeing rapid growth across several European nations. In Norway, data from Statistisk sentralbyrå (SSB) indicates that 69 percent of residents aged 16 to 79 used generative AI tools in the three months preceding the second quarter of 2026. This represents a 15 percentage point increase from 2025. Usage is particularly high among young people, with 90 percent of those aged 16 to 24 utilizing the technology. Additionally, 48 percent of Norwegian businesses with at least 10 employees are now using AI.

In Poland, the Microsoft AI Economy Institute’s ‘Global AI Diffusion Report Q2 2026’ shows that 32.3 percent of internet users aged 15 to 64 used generative AI in the first half of 2026. This rate places Poland on par with Germany and close to the United States and Denmark, while surpassing usage rates in Italy, the Czech Republic, China, and Russia. Globally, the adoption rate for the same age demographic stands at 18.8 percent, with a notable divide between the Global North and the Global South.
