AI adoption trends show integration gaps in finance and news

Research from Iress and Signal Advisory indicates that financial advice professionals who embed artificial intelligence across their entire workflows are three times more likely to report business benefits than those using it only for specific tasks. Despite this, only 7 per cent of practices have fully embedded AI, with 50 per cent citing poor integration as a primary barrier. Many professionals prefer AI to be built into existing software rather than adopting standalone tools.

In the media sector, a study by the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication and the Knight Center for the Future of News reveals that newsrooms are primarily focusing AI experimentation on editorial concerns rather than existential business threats. While there is widespread anxiety regarding AI's impact on site traffic and audience behavior, relatively few projects focus on revenue, subscriptions, or fundraising. Most business-related AI projects in newsrooms were part of specific grant programs, suggesting a lack of organic experimentation with new business models.
