AI advancement increases demand for cybersecurity experts
The rise of artificial intelligence is driving an increased demand for cybersecurity specialists. According to Dr. Mehmet Kemalettin Torun of Yeditepe University, while organizations can fill general roles, they struggle to find high-level experts capable of defending against AI-powered attacks and managing cloud security.
Global statistics highlight the scale of the threat. In 2025, approximately 500,000 malicious files were detected daily worldwide. In the United States, FBI data reported over 1 million internet crime complaints in 2025, resulting in losses of approximately $20.9 billion. In Turkey, the National Cyber Incident Response Center (USOM) identified and blocked more than 101,500 malicious links in 2025.
AI is also making fraudulent activities more convincing. Reports from the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) indicate that as of early 2025, more than 80% of observed social engineering activities globally involved AI-supported phishing campaigns.
