IBM and OpenAI partner to deploy enterprise AI and cybersecurity

IBM and OpenAI have entered a strategic partnership to accelerate the deployment of artificial intelligence across large-scale enterprise operations. The collaboration focuses on integrating OpenAI’s frontier models, including GPT-5. 6, Codex, and ChatGPT Work, into the IBM Consulting Advantage platform.

Under the agreement, IBM will establish a dedicated OpenAI Practice, aiming to train and certify tens of thousands of consultants and engineers through the OpenAI Partner Network. To support direct implementation, IBM will deploy specialized 'Forward Deployed Experts' to work within client environments, particularly in highly regulated sectors.

The partnership targets several key industries, including financial services, telecommunications, retail, and public administration. It also aims to modernize legacy workflows and enhance cybersecurity by combining OpenAI’s Daybreak program with IBM’s Autonomous Security services. While the strategic scope is broad, the financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
