AI advancements target military fire support and industrial logistics

Smack Technologies is developing “Omega,” an artificial intelligence software designed to optimize joint fires and ammunition prioritization. Inspired by combat experiences in Mosul, the system aims to accelerate decision-making regarding target sequencing and resource allocation, particularly when ammunition availability is limited. The company plans to transition the software from prototypes to production, starting with a broader rollout within the U.S. military.

In the industrial sector, Imago Technologies and Fraunhofer researchers are utilizing the Omlox open localization standard to enhance factory intelligence. By combining AI-based real-time localization with camera technology, the system provides visibility into the movement of personnel, materials, and processes. This approach aims to identify hidden inefficiencies in production and logistics environments that traditional machine monitoring often misses.
