NEC and DeNA deploy AI employees in new unmanned departments
Major Japanese technology firms are increasingly integrating AI into their organizational structures. NEC has established a new unmanned department composed entirely of 36 AI agents, including roles such as department heads and managers. These agents perform tasks like financial reporting, news research, and meeting administration, and even undergo simulated stress checks and interviews. Similarly, DeNA has deployed 17 AI employees to its accounting and quality control departments to handle tasks like responding to colleague requests and recording daily reports.
In the enterprise service sector, IIJ has launched a new solution to support the implementation and operation of generative AI, offering two menus: 'with Dify' for app development and 'Starter' for custom AI agent development. TDI has introduced the 'TDI FDE service' to provide engineers who work directly within client business processes to ensure successful AI implementation. Additionally, Hitachi Solutions has updated its 'Katsubun' platform to support the Model Context Protocol (MCP), allowing AI agents to securely access internal information based on user permissions.
In manufacturing, CEC has opened a Physical AI demonstration lab to test how AI can bridge the gap between digital decision-making and physical robot control. Meanwhile, IIJ and NTT Docomo Business have successfully verified the interoperability of different data spaces, ensuring secure and reliable data circulation across diverse architectures.
