AI agent adoption rises as experts call for rigorous QA frameworks

The implementation of AI agents in customer service is increasing, with adoption rising 27% to 66% of organizations in a single year. However, the transition from human to AI agents requires new quality assurance (QA) frameworks to prevent errors such as confident misinformation, policy drift, and failure to escalate complex issues.

Effective AI agent management involves scoring conversations against standards for accuracy, compliance, and resolution. Because AI agents can execute actions like issuing refunds or changing accounts, unmonitored errors can lead to significant financial or reputational risks.

Technical experts suggest that moving away from treating agents as simple chatbots and instead treating them as autonomous execution engines is critical. This involves using strict typed JSON schemas, Model Context Protocol (MCP) endpoints, and two-phase mutation safeguards to ensure agents translate natural language into reliable, deterministic tool calls rather than unpredictable conversational prompts.
