Google Gemini Spark introduces proactive AI task automation

Google has introduced Gemini Spark, an agentic personal assistant designed to automate workflows within the Google Workspace ecosystem. Announced at the Google I/O developer conference, Spark is capable of performing proactive, multi-step tasks in the background across applications such as Gmail, Docs, Slides, and Calendar.

Users can delegate tasks like summarizing email threads, creating style guides from previous correspondence, or managing internship follow-ups. The tool utilizes Personal Intelligence to tailor suggestions based on user data. Access to Gemini Spark currently requires a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription and is subject to regional availability, with restrictions in the European Economic Area, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and Nigeria.
