AI and algorithms transform digital visibility and information consumption

The landscape of digital information consumption is shifting as generative AI and recommendation algorithms change how users interact with brands and search engines. In the healthcare sector, digital visibility is evolving from a marketing concern into a critical economic factor. Patients are increasingly using AI-mediated tools to research treatments and medical products, often receiving synthesized answers without ever visiting a specific company website. This creates a new layer of information mediation that companies cannot directly control.

Data from the Pew Research Center indicates this trend is measurable, with 60 percent of US respondents reporting they occasionally read AI-generated summaries in search results. Furthermore, 34 percent of US adults have utilized AI chatbots for information.

Simultaneously, search engines are transitioning from reactive tools that wait for specific queries to proactive systems that push content to users via algorithms, such as Google Discover. This shift fundamentally alters how information is absorbed by the public.
