AI and Literature Initiatives Spotlighted in Buenos Aires Forum and Spanish Projects

On July 15, a forum on children's and youth literature was held at the Buenos Aires Convention Center, organized by ABGRA and the Fundación El Libro. The event, titled “Reading, libraries and new literacies in the era of artificial intelligence,” gathered teachers, librarians, reading mediators and cultural promoters to discuss how AI can support equitable access to books and foster critical digital literacy among young readers.

In Spain, several institutions are deploying artificial‑intelligence systems that allow the public to converse with revived classic authors. By training models on extensive archives of manuscripts, letters and novels, these projects aim to preserve local languages and cultural identity while offering interactive, style‑accurate dialogues with historic writers. The initiatives are presented as tools to make literary heritage more accessible to both children and scholars, complementing rather than replacing human creativity.
