AI applications expand into infrastructure and local news broadcasting

Artificial intelligence is being applied across diverse sectors, ranging from industrial infrastructure to local media broadcasting. In the transportation sector, infrastructure AI is being utilized to address systemic issues such as traffic congestion and safety. By analyzing real-time and historical data from vehicle movements and signal timing, these systems allow agencies to transition from reactive management to proactive, forward-looking traffic control.

In the media industry, Texas-based television station KSAT is set to debut “The Rundown” on September 14. The newscast will feature AI-generated voices for certain story teases, while maintaining human reporters and weather forecasters for core content. This move by parent company Graham Media Group reflects a broader trend of broadcasters exploring AI to expand content distribution and manage operational expenses, following similar experiments by other media entities like the E. W. Scripps Company.
