AI applications expand into legal research and political analysis

New developments in artificial intelligence are appearing in specialized professional sectors and political analysis. In Croatia, the legaltech application Ulpian has been introduced to assist with legal research in Croatian and European law. Developed by lawyer Ozren Kobsa and legal expert Sandra Ćatović Stručić, the tool aims to automate the time-consuming process of finding relevant regulations, articles, and case law. The developers describe it as ‘verifiable legal AI,’ designed to provide answers alongside the specific legal sources used to ensure accuracy and allow for human verification.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, an experiment using ChatGPT to evaluate political performance saw the AI rank the current Tuzla Canton government, led by Irfan Halilagić, as the most successful to date. The AI based its ranking on criteria such as investment cycles, financial stability, and infrastructure improvements, though it noted that a final historical assessment is not possible as the current mandate is still ongoing.
