AI automation transforms recruitment and candidate screening processes

Recruitment agencies are increasingly adopting AI automation to streamline candidate screening, a process that includes parsing CVs, matching data against job specifications, and conducting conversational screenings via chatbots. Tools such as Bullhorn, Manatal, Textkernel, and HireVue are being utilized to reduce the time required to create shortlists from days to hours.

However, this shift has created new challenges for both applicants and employers. Research from CV-Library suggests that jobseekers are increasingly tailoring their CVs and cover letters to satisfy AI algorithms rather than human recruiters. This trend has led 70% of surveyed jobseekers to feel it is harder to stand out, while a similar number of recruiters reported that AI-generated applications make it more difficult to identify the strongest candidates.

Recruiters have expressed declining confidence in whether applications accurately reflect a candidate's true skills. Experts suggest that as applications become more polished through AI, employers may need to rely more heavily on interviews and skills-based assessments to evaluate real-world capabilities.
