AI integration impacts worker psychology and crisis communication

Research conducted in Austria is examining the psychological and communicative implications of integrating generative artificial intelligence into professional environments.

One study investigated how the use of generative AI affects workers' perceptions of their own effort and diligence. Findings indicated that remembering tasks completed with AI assistance was associated with increased feelings of guilt and shame, as well as a lower perception of personal effort. However, the study found no significant link between AI use and compensatory prosocial behaviors, such as charitable donations.

Another study explored the role of AI in internal crisis communication within high-threat workplaces. The research suggests that anthropomorphic features in conversational agents can increase perceived empathy and emotional responsiveness. This perceived empathy was linked to higher employee satisfaction, increased feelings of security, and a greater intention to follow organizational guidance during a crisis.
