Researchers have developed an artificial‑intelligence‑enhanced blood test that can identify biomarkers associated with Alzheimer’s disease with roughly 92 % accuracy before clinical symptoms appear. The test analyses protein and immune‑related markers in middle‑aged adults, aiming to create a “therapeutic window” for early lifestyle or pharmaceutical interventions. Although promising, the assay remains in controlled studies and requires multi‑center validation before routine clinical use.
A separate study using UK Biobank data found distinct protein changes in the blood up to a decade before multiple sclerosis (MS) diagnosis. Eight proteins, including the protective marker DKKL1, differed in individuals who later developed MS, suggesting a potential screening tool comparable to cholesterol testing for heart disease. Early identification could allow clinicians to monitor high‑risk patients and start treatment before irreversible nerve damage occurs.
