AI evolution shifts from simple assistance to autonomous agentic systems
The rapid integration of artificial intelligence is shifting from simple assistance to agentic AI, capable of executing complex, multi-step tasks. In industrial sectors, Bosch Rexroth is developing AI agents for its automation platform to independently configure kinematics and generate PLC programs. Similarly, the Fraunhofer IWU has developed the Orcha-3 platform to apply agentic AI to production technology, managing processes where the next step depends on real-time evaluation.
In the service and financial sectors, the JDC Group is introducing AI agents to automate insurance contract closures and administrative tasks for brokers. Meanwhile, the Swiss organization Dargebotene Hand has implemented an AI chatbot to provide crisis support when human counselors are unavailable, using a closed system based on curated content.
However, this transition presents significant challenges. Leadership experts note that AI requires a fundamental shift in management, as leaders must now coordinate both humans and machine actors. In the workforce, there are concerns regarding the impact on junior developers, as AI takes over entry-level tasks like documentation and basic coding. Additionally, privacy remains a major hurdle; studies show that while many use AI for sensitive topics like mental health, there is significant distrust regarding data protection and the potential for personal information to be used for advertising profiles.
