AI Photonics Semiconductor Sector Gains Momentum Across Taiwan and Europe

Taiwan’s stock market saw a sharp rally as TSMC’s late‑session buying helped turn the market red to green, boosting AI server‑related shares. Wistron surged 5.79% after opening its Texas plant, while other AI fab firms such as Hon Hai, Quanta and Inventec posted gains above 2%. Silicon‑photonics stocks like Liyu and Liqi rose on NVIDIA‑related optimism, whereas memory and passive‑component groups fell, and PCB maker Zhen Ding‑KY slumped on rumors.

Gaoming Tie completed a NT$13 billion cash‑increase, directing funds to expand silicon‑photonics equipment capacity and R&D, positioning the firm to supply AI‑high‑speed optical interconnects and securing orders for 800 G/1.6 T optical‑module alignment.

French semiconductor materials leader Soitec reported Q1 FY27 revenue of €113 million, up 23% YoY, driven by accelerating demand for Photonics‑SOI in AI data‑center transceivers. Its 300‑mm SOI fab in Singapore qualified for high‑volume production, and the company expects more than 30% YoY growth in Q2, with CAPEX around €100 million.

CITIC Securities flagged the electronics sector as undervalued after July’s market pull‑back, citing strong fundamentals in AI components, PCB, storage and AI power. The firm projects a recovery as global AI demand sustains high‑level supply‑chain activity.
