AI conferences in Peru and Argentina explore art, policy and societal impact

In Barranco, Lima, a cultural meeting titled “El arte y la inteligencia artificial” was held on 21 July at the Francisco Bolognesi venue. Organized as part of the Encuentros Arguedianos, the free‑entry event gathered writers, poets, musicians and researchers to discuss how artificial intelligence challenges artistic creation, referencing the legacy of writer José María Arguedas.

In Buenos Aires Province, the University National de Quilmes hosted a separate forum, “El uso de la inteligencia artificial y su vinculación con las políticas públicas de desarrollo”, co‑organized by the provincial Ministry of Government and the Organización de Estados Iberoamericanos. Speakers included Minister Carlos Bianco, who warned against leaving AI to market forces and advocated state‑led investment for sovereign technology and skilled jobs, and UNQ rector Alejandra Zinni, who highlighted the need to govern AI training to avoid political bias. The three‑panel session examined regional AI deployment and policy challenges.
