AI content floods TikTok kids' feeds; World Bank warns job risk in rich nations

A June analysis by the U.S. tech firm Kapwing of more than 10,000 TikTok videos found that 59% of the videos offered to new accounts—often created for children—are low‑quality, AI‑generated content, described as “AI sludge.” The study raises concerns about children’s ability to distinguish real from fabricated media.

A World Bank report indicates that artificial intelligence poses a much higher risk of job displacement in high‑income economies, affecting about 14.2% of jobs, compared with roughly 4.5% in low‑ and middle‑income countries. The same study notes comparable productivity gains across income groups but warns that without supportive policies, AI could widen inequality and concentrate market power.
